Springfield Hellcat Pistols Offer Unmatched Performance
There’s nothing better for concealment than a micro-compact semi-automatic pistol, and the Springfield Armory Hellcat has changed the game.
The small size of micro-compact pistols makes them ideal for concealed carriers of all shapes and sizes. Unfortunately, there are some trade-offs that must be made, and the most consequential one of all is magazine capacity.
Since the frame of a micro-compact pistol is so small, there’s far less room in the grip’s magazine well for a large magazine. Sure, you can carry extra magazines, but that can be limiting. Springfield Armory solved that problem by constructing a magazine that’s able to hold more rounds while still maintaining a necessarily small footprint.
Small Size, Big Performance
With a flush fit magazine, the Hellcat pistol is capable of holding 11+1 rounds of 9mm ammo. With the extended magazine, capacity increases to 13+1 rounds. That’s industry-leading capacity; no other micro compact pistol can carry as many rounds as the Springfield Armory Hellcat.
Coming in at just 6” long, 4” tall, and 1” wide, the Hellcat is super easy to conceal. The adaptive grip texture is specifically designed to be comfortable when carried and solidly gripped when in use. Made up of tall and short pyramid shapes, the tall pyramids have a flat top to ensure comfort in the waistband and minimal wear on clothing. The short pyramids come to a point and lock into your hand for a secure hold when the pistol is firmly gripped.
There are front, top, and rear slide serrations for easy slide racking, a reversible mag release, a non-proprietary rail for mounting lights and lasers, and a tritium and luminescent front sight paired with tactical rack U-dot rear sight. Want to run a red dot optic instead? There’s an OSP model of the Hellcat that comes with a milled slide that’s ready to accept a micro red dot of your choice. Best of all, the dots mount directly to the slide for the lowest possible footprint.
As with any concealed carry handgun that you’re going to trust your life to, it’s got to be a gun that’s incredibly reliable. You simply must know that it’s going to perform in the critical moments. That’s why Springfield Armory subjected one Hellcat pistol to a 20,000-round torture test to see how it performed. That’s right: one gun and 20,000 rounds - and all captured on film for proof.
The results were astounding. The gun experienced zero parts breakage whatsoever There were a few stoppages, but those were all determined to have been caused by user error such as inadvertently making contact with the slide release and even one time when a round was inserted backwards into the magazine.
I know of no other documented single handgun test of that magnitude, let alone one with such stellar performance. Needless to say, the gun can be trusted.
One concern that people have with semi-auto pistols in close-quarters defensive situations is the possibility that the gun can come out of battery when pressed directly against an assailant. This renders the gun inoperable and of no use to stop a bad situation. To solve this problem, the Hellcat is outfitted with a special muzzle standoff device that prevents the gun from coming out of battery even when pressed against someone. This means that you can defend yourself with a Hellcat no matter how up close and personal the situation may be.
The Hellcat is outfitted with a hammer forged barrel, a recontoured Gen 2 trigger for better ergonomics, and a loaded chamber indicator. The guns are available in different colors and with or without a manual safety.
Hellcat Pro
If a micro-compact pistol just seems too small for your hands, but you still want all of the features that are found on the original Hellcat, then be sure to check out the Hellcat Pro.
Physically, the Hellcat Pro isn’t much larger than the Hellcat. It’s still just 1” wide and is only 0.8” taller and only 0.6” longer. However, that small increase in size makes the Hellcat Pro capable of carrying 15+1 rounds of 9mm in a flush fit magazine and 17+1 rounds in an extended magazine. Once again, that’s industry-leading capacity for its size.
All of the features and options that are available on the original Hellcat are also available on the Hellcat Pro, but there are two additional options that are only available on the Pro model. The first is a threaded barrel so that you can attach a suppressor of your choice.
The second is the addition of the Hellcat Pro Comp. Equipped with an integrally compensated barrel to reduce felt recoil and muzzle rise, the Hellcat Pro Comp has a single port on top of the slide and barrel. This redirects gas upwards, reducing muzzle rise and enhancing control. The result is a pistol that delivers faster and more accurate follow-up shots.
Hellcat RDP
Rounding out the Hellcat family of pistols is the Hellcat RDP, which stands for Rapid Defense Package. The Hellcat RDP is outfitted with the Shield SMSc, which is a low profile micro red dot that co-witnesses with the Hellcat’s U-dot sights. The Hellcat RDP also has a threaded barrel fitted with a patent-pending, self-indexing compensator. Made of strong and lightweight aircraft-grade aluminum, the proprietary design of the compensator reduces muzzle rise and keeps you on target.
As stated in the name, the Hellcat RDP is the whole package. It has all of the same features and options available in the other Hellcat models with one special addition to the design. The RDP models that have a manual safety benefit from it being ambidextrous. This gun is ready to go right out of the box with everything you need for rapid defense of yourself and your loved ones.
Can’t Go Wrong
No matter which Hellcat model you choose, you can rest easy knowing that you’ve got a pistol with industry-leading capacity for its size and unmatched performance by way of an excruciating torture test.
